Thanks for the support
I was lucky enough to win that award in 2007 and met with Hank on the field before a World Series game. That was really cool, something special that I'll remember. I had met him as a kid, but this was kind of an opportunity to talk to him a little bit more. We talked about baseball and some of the accomplishments he had in the game. It wasn't like he gave me advice, because there wasn't much time for it. But he told me to play hard and wished me luck in my career. Like I said, it was special.
As for this year's Hank Aaron Award, I don't see how Albert Pujols doesn't win it. He's having a Triple Crown-type season and I think he deserves it. But it's still great to have the support of the fans that I've been getting, and I thank you guys for that.
I've also been getting a lot of love this week after setting a couple of team records, and I appreciate that. Like I told the reporters, though, I would rather be winning more games than hearing about records and stats. I'd trade that stuff in if it meant we could go back to the playoffs.
It didn't happen this year, but I like the way we're still playing hard. We're going to keep doing that until the season is officially over.
-Prince

Thanks Prince, you deserve the support. I wish you were in the playoffs also, but still such a joy to watch you!

What a shame that such an eloquent post, Prince, got seven identical responses; we Brewers fans can do better.
Prince, you've had a great season, and you deserve the support you get.
As for Pujols, he, too, has had a great season -- but he's on a better team, with Matt Holladay backing him up. (I'm sorry to admit this, but it's the truth.) Pujols, in my best recollection, usually hits third -- sometimes cleanup -- while Holladay is hitting behind Pujols most of the time. This can't help but pad Pujols's numbers somewhat; you have to pick your poison with them, similar to how pitchers have the choice to pitch to either you or Braun -- excepting their team is going to win the division, while the Brewers have been out of it since late July. (Once again, sad to say, but truthful.)
I've been a Brewers fan since age five -- the year the Brewers came to town -- and I saw Hank Aaron play his last two years here. (He could still hit, and he knew how to work the count.) My Mom and I went to twenty, thirty, forty games a year before I was in my teens, and fifty or sixty games thereafter -- it used to be considerably cheaper to go, and we used to sit in the bleachers (right-center, behind the bullpen in old County Stadium, a great place to be).
Prince, make no mistake about it -- you are a worthy choice, if the fans vote for you; Pujols, too, is a worthy choice. And there are a number of others who might also be worthy choices -- but I, personally, have voted for you and will continue to do so, because I feel you are the best choice for the Hank Aaron Award.
As for some of the fans, they are disappointed, as are you. (I am, too, but not for the same reasons. I know the players have played hard and done their part; I haven't ever booed a player and I don't intend to start now. I have, occasionally, booed an umpire, and I once yelled at Brad Nelson to take a HBP just so he could get on base, when he was in his 0-for-the-season bit earlier this year. Sorry 'bout that.) But not every disappointed fan is a "fair-weather" fan, either.
What I want to see, as a fan, is the Brewers offering you a long-term deal that's commensurate with your quality as a player and person; you've also improved greatly with your defense, which I really appreciate (I love defense). I can't guarantee this will happen -- partly because of the marketplace, partly because I feel the front office has the wrong priorities -- but it's what I'd do, were I the GM of the Brewers.
I've enjoyed seeing you play and I want you to be a Brewer for a long, long time to come. You've improved in all aspects of your game, you're still a young man, and you have (excuse me for saying it, as I know it can't help but feed the ego a tad) Hall of Fame potential -- something I do not say lightly. Plus, you seem to be a very good person -- albeit with a bit of a temper (I have one, too, so I'd never excoriate you for that!) -- and I want to see you here, as a Brewer, for as long as you want to stay. (May your wish be that you stay long!)

Prince you are a true joy to watch. Your passion exudes and i appreciate it. I think its great how much fun you guys have and dont let the talking heads get you away from it. My dream is that you retire as a Brewer so that i can continue to watch you grow as a player. THANK YOU

Prince, i've enjoyed watching you this season and I hope I can watch you (as a Brewer-hopefully) for MANY years to come. I have to admit that I was never a baseball fan-until last year. I was invited to a game (my first)-and that changed everything!! You hit a walk off HR, and that's something special that I will never forget. You are such a passionate player and you love your team so much; that's why the fans respect and love you so much!! My grandma passed away this year; you were her favorite player (she adored you). So it is so special for me to watch you succeed and be the amazing player that you are...Keep it up Prince!!

Congrats! Prince or should I say King. I am like a spitting image of you. I am #28, Left Handed Batting, Right Handed Throwing and I play first base. I would just like to say Thanks for staying in Milwaukee, you and Brauny(I Love the handshake thing) were the only few brightspots this past season. Oh do you think Mike Cameron struck out the last game of the year at Miller Park, I was there but I didnt think so? Write back and comment on my blogs

Hey Prince!
I was wondering what you thought about the offseason moves the front office is making. Also alot of solid veterans won't be back next year (Mike Cam, J Kendall, etc) and I was wondering who you were gonna miss most in the clubhouse and on the field. Have a Merry Christmas/Happy New Year/ Happy Hannakuh and see ya next spring.

First, let me say (please continue to read after the booing stops) that I am a DieHard Cardinals fan. I was a Braves fan when they were in Boston, all the time they were in Milwaukee, and until I moved to St. Louis over 50 years ago.
Fans like me are loyal to their teams when the players respect the fans and treat them like they mean something. When they don't, they become what some of you have stated as "fair weather fans".
I took pictures at the 2009 All Star game and at the Home Run hitting contest. One of those I got was with Prince just completing his swing when he hit his monster drive. I sent two 8X10 copies to Prince and asked him if he could sign one and send it to my 94 year old mother who watches or listens to every Brewer game. She even keeps score in her notebook for every game. I enclosed an addressed stamped envelope to send it in. She never received the picture. The second one was for Prince to keep or if he had many that were taken, to sign it and give it to some kid at a game and make his day.
How much effort would it take to scribble his name on a picture and give it to someone in the office to put in the envelope and send on? That's not the kind of player loyalty to the fans that they deserve. I have not told my mother because it would break her heart to know that one of her favorites couldn't even bother to take 2 minutes to sign a picture for her. Fortunately, she doesn't use the computer so she won't see this.
I grew up in Wisconsin and love it and Milwaukee. Unless the Brewers were playing the Cardinals, I always cheered for them. I still will except for Prince, he no longer has my respect.
